Genie models we work on
- Screw-drive openers – the fast, simple units Genie built their name on. Many Bay Area garages still run these after 15 to 20 years. The carriage is usually the first part to go, and we stock replacements.
- Chain and belt drives – Genie's newer residential line, including wall-mount and battery-backup versions.
- Intellicode remotes and keypads – Genie's rolling-code system. Desyncs and re-pairs are one of our most common calls.
- Aladdin Connect – Genie's smart-control platform, built in on newer models or added as a retrofit kit.

Are Genie openers reliable?
Yes. Their screw-drive units especially are simple, fast and long-lived, which is why so many Bay Area garages still run 15-year-old ones. If yours fails, we'll quote a Genie repair and a replacement (any brand) side by side so you can decide what makes sense.
My remote stopped working but the wall button is fine. What's going on?
Usually it's the battery or the Intellicode rolling code lost sync. Re-pairing takes a few minutes at the learn button on the motor head. If that doesn't fix it, the receiver board is the next thing to check. It's a known weak point after power surges, and we can usually replace it without replacing the whole opener.
Can you still get parts for older Genie screw-drives?
For most models, yes. Carriages, couplers, limit switches and circuit boards for the common screw-drive families are still available. The carriage (the part that actually wears out) is something we keep in stock. Once a model needs a board that's been discontinued, we'll let you know and price out a full replacement.
What is Aladdin Connect?
It's Genie's smart-control system: phone app, open/close alerts, remote operation. On compatible openers it adds smart features without swapping out the unit. Why does my screw-drive get loud when it's cold?
The rail grease stiffens in cold weather and the drive chatters. It's common in unheated garages near the coast. The fix is the right low-temperature grease (not WD-40) and checking the carriage for wear. If the carriage teeth are stripped, that's the noise that eventually turns into a no-move opener.
